Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright spoke of education, world issues and of her life to a packed audience at an annual fundraiser at Cleveland’s Renaissance Hotel Oct. 2.
Albright is the third former U.S. Secretary of State, and one of many celebrities who helped raised millions of dollars for the Cuyahoga Community College Foundation’s coffers that are directed to helping student scholarships.
Civic and business leaders, college officials and a small contingency of students listened to Albright’s 25-minute speech where she spoke about growing up in Europe, and how she immigrated to America.
The luncheon, emceed by WKYC Channel 3 News anchors Russ Mitchell and Kris Pickel, started with the Star-Spangled Banner, then an invocation by a local Rabbi.
Count on continuing coverage by The Voice newspaper in our next issue on stands October 15.
**edited March 2014 to correct a misspelling in Ms. Albright’s name.
