Part of the Carol S Franklin Social Science Speaker series, Dr. Mary Childers speaks to students, faculty, and community members about growing up poor.
By Jeremy Hopkins, West Editor
Speaking at the West campus on March 25, Dr. Mary Childers replied to some of the questions from the audience. Author of _welfare brat: a memoir_, Childers is passionate about proving that not all poor people are people of color. She is also incredibly passionate, and proving daily, that being born to a parent in poverty is not a pronouncement of a future fate of financial freefall.
