African clothing and style is interesting to look into. Traditional African clothing are made of several materials: Adire, Aso Oke Fabric, Barkcloth, Kente Cloth, Kiting and Mud Cloth. These materials are used to make different patterns that are pleasing to the eye.
African clothing is very vibrant and powerful. The clothing can have neutral colors for formal wear to vibrant colors for everyday purposes. African styles stand out mostly from the many fascinators the women wear to the formal attire the men wear for weddings.
African clothing has been adopted in American culture. For example, dashikis, kufi hats and statement jewelry are apart of everyday wear for some African Americans. The adoption and newfound appreciation of African fashion and style in America is becoming widely appreciated for its’ unique appearance.
The fashion in African culture is abstract. The structure of African clothing is beautifully constructed with different shapes, designs and fabrics that is not only pleasing to the eye but pleasing to wear as well.
