As many of our art majors are aware, Cuyahoga Community College has recently provided the opportunity for its students to get their work published through the 39th International Student Art Awards. The awards are hosted by Santa Fe College. The competition itself allows for many mediums of art media. Entries range from paintings, photography, renders, videos, etc. Any medium is welcome as long as your piece fits the topic of being able to relate to you in some way, anything is free game. Competitors must also include a 50-word evaluation of their work.
The contest is broken down into two segments with each participating school having its own coordinator. Tri-C professor Clarissa Katz is our coordinator. It’s up to the coordinator of that specific school to decide whose work makes it to the final competition as each school is only allowed up to 5 individual student submissions. From there it’s up to the jurors Millian Giang, Lien Pham, Lisa Iglesias, and Marco Hernandez to rate all of the submitted work from the participating schools. Winning the competition not only brings prestige but a cash prize. There is a first-place prize of $850, second-place with $350, third-place with $200, and 3 runners up with $100. Even those who don’t win a cash prize should be proud of their work as all artists are submitted into a catalog. While the competition is no longer taking any more submissions, we can all support our Tri-C artists. We hope the best for our Tri-C competitors.
