As students, especially college students, we often face multiple challenges. One of these challenges is time management. This is a product of many factors, like variance in age, backgrounds, and situations that come with different types of responsibilities and mentality. But how can we take this and transform it into a system that works for us?
Well, I personally have a couple of ways to manage my time. First, I try to lay out all the events, deadlines, or anything that requires my time and effort, and each event is categorized as “academic”, “college”, “social”, etc. By adding emojis or different colors for each category, the calendar app will remind me a day before each task. Secondly, for daily activities, I try to make a list of “To Do’s” for every day, writing them in order of importance, and again, trying to organize them by categories. Some of these tasks are not due for maybe a couple of days, so these could be extra tasks on your daily lists that can be done the same day. Or, if there is no time, then they can be postponed a bit, taking into consideration the due date or the urgency.
We should remember to include activities on our lists that help us relax or just simply have fun, like eating out with friends or, just something that brings you joy and peace. These often-forgotten activities are key to helping us maintain balanced mental health. As students and adults, we often face different challenges when responsibilities get too heavy for us, but these challenges can become opportunities to learn and develop new skills.
