Pick Three: New Student Resource Center

By: Christina Easter

This fall, Cuyahoga Community College’s Eastern Campus celebrated the opening of its new Student Resource Center where, twice a month, currently enrolled students can select clothing and accessories for a job interview, class or other occasion.

The Center is located in the Student Services building, open Monday – Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and requires your Stomp Card and an appointment.

The grand opening featured red carpet, a fresh clean look, and beautiful scents from donated perfumes and colognes. Inside the Center there are stations with female and male apparel, accessories, and mirrors.

“It is a space where students can come and get clothes, shoes, watches, necklaces, lip balm, soap, cologne, and other items,” said James Gardner, Jr. director of Student Engagement, Eastern Student Life Office.

During the grand opening, Gardner and Joseph Bianchini, Student Life advisor greeted each visitor and provided a tour of the Center.

Tri-C student Kaylynne Jonson attended the grand opening to support the Center. “I was interested to see that you can pick three pieces for free by just showing up and bringing your Stomp Card,” Johnson said. “I feel grateful that nobody made me feel any kind of way.”

Throughout the day, Tri-C employees, students and visitors stopped in the new Center to check it out. Some students picked up three items while some visitors inquired about making a donation.

Donations of clean and fresh new or gently used items during the days and times the Center is open. Gardner Jr. said that donations come from Tri-C employees, students, and other sources.

Gardner Jr. explained that a former student and vice president of Student Government had the idea to provide students with apparel for job interviews. The Eastern Campus president liked the idea and approved it. Then the Student Life team made it happen.

“We took the approval and ran with it,” said Gardner and “today we have the resource room grand opening,” added Bianchini.

“It’s a feel good time to have this kind of space,” said Bianchini. “We provide a resource for professional attire that students need for job interviews, seminars, workshops and other events.”

Carmen Huff, an Eastern Campus employee stopped in to inquire about making a donation. “I was impressed with the nice welcoming colors, great smell, inviting atmosphere and the amazing assistance,” said Huff.

“I will definitely be telling other people about the resource room.”

The Student Resource Room is the newest resource, of the many resources, Eastern Campus Student Life makes available to Tri-C students. To schedule an appointment, make a donation,  and to have your questions answered contact Bianchini at (216) 987-2046.
