The fall 2026 semester has started. Just like the seasons are changing, I have noticed Tri-C changing too. The Tri-C Western Campus has put in a new HVAC system. This HVAC system has been in the process of being installed since the summer. Many parts of campus have taken their turn being inaccessible to the students, staff, and other members of the community. On my first day of the semester, I had a conversation with Officer Okey, one of the campus Police Officers. He mentioned that many new students and their families had been confused and turned around due to the inaccessibility of areas on campus because of the HVAC installation. The AC has been high since the beginning of the semester as well. The campus is really cold, especially the library, bathrooms, and first level classrooms. September is the time of year when temperatures start to cool. The thing is, we have had warmer weather most of this semester. We are now towards the end of October, and the average temperature is in the mid 60s to low 70s.
I have also noticed that there have been more events on campus this semester. A few of the recent events are the registration fair and the college fair. The admissions and financial aid office set up some tables to let students know that spring registration was open for everyone. There were Halloween decorations, a bubble machine, popcorn, and candy. They had a “potion making” table and a table set up where people could make Halloween masks. The potion making table had a few different types of bottles, and you got to choose what glitter and colored dye that you wanted to put in them. There were also little charms, twine, and ribbon that you could add to them. A few people even added a hook to the cork that closed the bottles and turned them into a necklace. At the mask making table, there were 4 different masks to make. A cat, a skeleton, a pumpkin, and a witch. There were instructions at the table for people to follow. They also had some other felt stickers that could be added to the masks.
As for the college fair. Colleges from all over Ohio had tables set up in the Galleria. They had pamphlets and other stuff for information. Admissions members were at those tables, and you were available to ask them questions if you had any. There were short forms to fill out if you wanted more information from those colleges. There was also a table where you could fill out an application for those colleges for free. Tri-C Western Campus has stepped up their event game. More events are coming, and I cannot wait to see them.
