Former Western Campus President, Dr. Bernard Silk, Passes Away at Age 84.

Former Western Campus President, Dr. Bernard Silk, has passed away at age 84. He died on March 9 at his home in North Royalton. Dr. Silk was suffering with Parkinson’s disease.

Dr. Silk served as the President of the Western Campus from the years 1968-1973, a total of 5 years. Tri-C opened in 1963, meaning Dr. Silk was in presidency 5 years after the college opened. Dr. Silk still continued to teach students at the Western Campus after he stepped down as the president, according to his news obituary.

In an e-mail sent out by Diane Dzurilla, Office Assistant for the Western Campus President’s Office, she states “Dr. Silk lead the planning for a new building to replace the old Crile Veterans Administration Hospital on the property.”
