Final exams are around the corner, creating stress for students. Cuyahoga Community College provides tools such as events for relaxation, access to books and other sources, and, most importantly, a tutoring center.

The tutoring center is a resource offered by Cuyahoga Community College to help students overcome academic struggles related to classes and subjects. Every campus has a Tutoring Center to provide free assistance. Additionally, students can schedule an appointment in person, on the website, or via the Tri-C Space app. The tutoring center provides two ways to have the tutoring session: online via TutorMe using the TutorOcean platform or in person at the Student Service building on campus. Work hours vary on each campus, and during appointments, students must have the books and materials and prepare questions.

Annually, at midterms and the end of the semester, the tutoring center of the Eastern campus promotes Study Jam at the Eastern Campus in partnership with the SSS TRIO Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to help students guide, understand, practice, and absorb the subjects of the classes. This year, the Study Jam for finals will happen on Tuesday, December 5th, 2023, at the Student Service Building on the Second Floor. Tri-C will provide pizza, snacks, and drinks at noon, and the session will have a drawing for Stomp Cash. Additionally, it is a free event without a limited number of studies, so it is unnecessary to sign up to show up.

Mr. Worku Endalew is the Program Manager of Testing, Tutoring, and Math Coaching Services. According to him, there are many benefits to using the tutoring center as a vital tool for success in the academic journey. The advantages of tutoring centers are personalized learning, clarification of concepts, increased confidence, individual attention, improved study skills, preparation for exams, enhanced motivation, flexibility, and convenience, and they are a bridge to learning gaps.

In addition to the Study Jam, the Eastern Campus has lined up a series of events to support students in their preparations for Finals exam week, running from 12/11 to 12/17. The events will be happening at the Student Service Building and the library, including a Dog Therapy event scheduled for December 4, 2023, from 11 a.m to 1 p.m and December 5, 2023, from 12:00 p.m to 2 p.m. Complementing this, the college is organizing yoga sessions on December 5, from 2:00 p.m. to 3 p.m. and December 6, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 2 p.m. To help students manage their stress, Tri-C will provide accessible massage chairs on December 6, 2023, from 3:00 p.m to 5:00 p.m and December 7 , 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. Winterfest Enrollment Center event will be running from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Student Service Cafeteria, will also be promoted, offering hot cocoa, snacks, and tea to students during these events.

In conclusion, with the approaching final exams causing increased stress, Cuyahoga Community College, via the Tutoring Center and the Student Services, remains committed to helping students achieve their academic goals using different methods. The Tutoring Center, a crucial resource, demonstrates this commitment by offering personalized help and promoting the Study Jam event. Headed by Mr. Worku Endalew, the Study Jam reinforces the college’s dedication, providing an environment where students can seek guidance, understanding, and practice for their class subjects in anticipation of finals. The diverse events at the Eastern Campus, including Dog Therapy, yoga sessions, and accessible massage chairs, emphasize the college’s actions to support students throughout Finals exam week.
