How Can My Tri-C Education and Experiences Help Shape My Life Post-Graduation?

How Can My Tri-C Education and Experiences Help Shape My Life Post-Graduation?

By Vicki Ungvarsky

Once I graduate from Tri-C, I wish to attend a college or university with the goal of obtaining a bachelor’s degree. It is my hope to retain the knowledge I gained from my Tri-C courses, so I continue to do well academically in whatever major I choose. I also want to utilize my degree once it is received. I am currently an Associate of Arts major. I have dabbled in a bit of everything. Figuring out what future majors and careers I do not wish to have has been fairly easy. However, part of the issue with this major is: if you perform well academically and have a plethora of interests, it is difficult to pin down just one major and/or one career. What do I know? I am enthusiastic about working in some capacity with the autism community and/or a museum. I enjoy organizing events and fundraisers. When I led the PTA at my son’s academic and therapy center, I did both. My son is on the autism spectrum which is why I would love to have more involvement with individuals and families impacted by autism and those who work with them. I have experience working within a therapy department at an autism clinic too.

Something else I am passionate about is research. I must know everything about all topics in which I have interest. Writing is another thing I love to do, hence pursuing writing for The Voice. In my spare time, especially when I travel with my family, my absolute favorite activity is visiting museums dedicated to almost any subject matter(s). My favorite courses I have taken at Tri-C have been in English and Art History.

Soon, I will be updating my resume and consulting a career counselor here at Tri-C. I will be applying and interviewing for summer and/or fall internships that fall within my interests and abilities while still attending Tri-C. Plans to contact some organizations on my own about internships are also in the works. By taking these actions, I hope to add to both my educational and life experience backgrounds to be hired for a job that is meaningful to me after earning my bachelor’s degree.
