Presidential Search Finalized to Two Candidates

As initially reported by Sara Liptak – editor at West for The Voice – in this video, ”The Search” for a new school president began in March of this year. Just a few days ago, Tri-C announced the names of the finalists for the position of president of the college. As you may remember, Dr. Jerry Sue Thornton is retiring as president the end of this month, although she has stated she will remain on the Board for some time yet. These two candidates were selected out of eight finalists, which were narrowed down from over 40 applicants. The selection committee includes members of the administration here, representation from Student Government, and business and philanthropic organizations with offices here in Cleveland. This was not an easy task, but the work of narrowing down the candidates to a manageable amount was greatly assisted by Liz Rocklin of R.H. Perry & Associates. The two candidates are Dr. Lars Hafner, formerly of State College of Florida, and Dr. Alex Johnson, of Community College of Allegheny County. Both men have experience running a community college, with Dr. Johnson having the added benefit of being a former president of Tri C’s Metropolitan Campus. For a quick peek at these two candidates, as well as a list of the final eight candidates, check out “The Search,” Tri-C’s webpage dedicated to finding someone to be the next College President: http://tri-c-search.com/the-search#CandidatesInterviewedbyPresidentialSearchAdvisoryCommittee
